there was a movement in the photography industry to offer photos for sale through the internet. Services were available but they were fairly expensive for what they offered and seeing that I had an Engineering Degree and a background in Computer Science, decided to "roll my own", so to speak. And that was the beginning of ShowMeProofs.

Originally the system was created as a proofing system for our photography business alone, but I just couldn't keep it to myself. So I modified the system to allow other photographers to subscribe and made it available for $15/month. The only problem was that I never heard any feedback from anyone, so I was always chasing new ideas and system bugs alone. The only real fun to maintaining the site was changing the site template, and that's about as much fun as playing tennis by yourself.

I finally had enough of trying to find new ways to improve the system alone and took a big risk with the site. I rewrote the system to minimize the load on my server and made the photo sales system completely free! There were ads on the site, but once someone signed up and had access to the cart system, there was no more need for them to visit the site at all. Sure it sounds bad, but that is not the case at all, in fact the traffic to the site is awesome and I get plenty of feedback which helps me fix problems and add new features. Those new features not only help the photographers that are requesting the feature but they also benefit everyone else on the system including me!

But there is a new movement on the way and it has to do with the way the internet interacts with people, so once again there is a need to update the way photographers sell their photos online. This change is so significant that it's not truly feasable to try to host the cart system as a service from my web site, so I have created something that you can download and add to your own web site, and to make it more affordable I have broken it into four pieces because you may not see the benefit to all of the parts... yet!

Don't worry, the free system is still available. I will not abandon my roots, and there will be upgrades but it can only expand so far with it's current configuration. Upgrades will be made from time to time but the overall system will remain basically the same. So after 9 years, ShowMeProofs has gone beyond just trying to help you sell your photos through the internet. In fact, my goal is to not only help you sell photos, but help you sell more photos and get you more photography clients at the same time! I get 100% of my business through the internet with no other advertising costs and these are the tools I have created for myself.

This is not a group effort, I don't have programmers that create the site for me... I'm a photographer like you are. ShowMeProofs is a site I built to share the secrets my success of my photography business and to "talk shop" with fellow photographers that love their job as much as I do!
